Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the skillful insertion of fine, sterile, metal needles into acupuncture points on the body. Acupuncture treatment utilises the organisational channels of the body and it’s bio-electricity to aid the body it’s and cells to return your system to a more balanced state. The needles are inserted at various locations depending your condition. The experience is often described as deeply calming and relaxing with very little discomfort felt at all. When all the needles are in place our patients are required to rest for between 25 and 45 minutes while the healing effects take place.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a heat therapy used either in conjuction with or separate to acupuncture. The thermal warmth applied over the acupuncture channels and points is used to increase qi circulation in that area with the aim of strengthening the bio- electricity activity. Moxibustion is used for mobilising qi to weak areas, soothing areas of tightness and clearing areas of build up and congestion.

Cupping

During a cupping treatment, the air inside of a glass cup is heated and then placed on the skin. As cold air rushes in back inside the cup it creates a vacuum effect, drawing blood and body fluid to the skin surface. This action is used in TCM to draw impure energy circulation from deeper layer of the body up to the surface and thus is thought to have a ‘cleansing’ effect on the body and mind.
